New Year's Day countdown widget
Put a live New Year's Day countdown on your own site. It counts down to Friday, January 1, 2027, currently 57 days away, and rolls over to the next New Year's Day automatically once it passes. Set it up below and copy the code. It is a plain iframe, so it works anywhere you can paste HTML.
1. What are you counting to?
2. Appearance
Hiding a unit rolls its value into the next one shown, so the total stays correct.
3. Colours optional, overrides the theme
4. Size
How to add it
- Choose an event or date above, pick a theme and size.
- Press Copy code.
- Paste it into your page wherever you want the countdown to appear. In WordPress use a Custom HTML block; in Squarespace or Webflow use an Embed or Code block.
The countdown reads the visitor's own device clock, so it shows the correct remaining time wherever they are. Nothing is loaded from a third party, no cookies are set inside the widget, and it keeps working if your page is cached.
About the New Year's Day countdown
The first day of the Gregorian calendar year and a federal holiday in the United States. Most of the search interest arrives in the last week of December, when people are counting down the final hours rather than the days.
The widget shows the time remaining to Friday, January 1, 2027. Because it reads each visitor's own device clock, everyone sees the correct figure for where they are. Once New Year's Day passes it begins counting to the next one with no action from you, so a page you set up today keeps working next year.

Questions
- Is it really free?
- Yes, with no account and no limits. The code includes a small credit link back to this site, which is how the widget pays for itself. Please leave it in place.
- Will it slow my page down?
- Barely. The widget is a single iframe of about 2.5 KB with no tracking, no images and one web font, and it is set to load lazily so it does not block the rest of your page.
- Does it work on mobile?
- Yes. The numbers scale to the width you set, and setting
max-width:100%on the iframe lets it shrink on small screens. - Can I change the colours?
- Three themes are provided: light, dark and yellow. Switch between them above and the code updates.
- What happens after the date passes?
- An event widget rolls over to the next occurrence automatically. A fixed-date widget stops at zero.
